From 25 July to 7 August, 2010 the well-known jazz workshop will take place in the Polish city Chodziez and Ukrainian jazz musicians in the space of two weeks will have the opportunity to adopt experience of outstanding European jazz musicians.
It’s the oldest jazz workshop in the eastern part of Europe and till nowadays it’s still one of the most important events in the European jazz movement. The Workshop has given rise to a galaxy of prominent jazz musicians who are now jazz teachers themselves.
This year the Art Director of the Workshop will be Professor Jan Yarchyk - the dean of jazz department at McGill University in Montreal

The young Ukrainian musicians will have an excellent opportunity to acquire new knowledge from professional teachers of jazz from Poland, Germany, Spain and Canada, to get the experience of working in jazz bands, to listen to lectures on history and theory of jazz music, to participate in jam sessions /every one evening/, to express themselves on a stage in the final concerts, to set up an acquaintance with young musicians from other countries & /possibly, why not/ to organize some new international jazz projects. Last year Art Association "Dzyga” and L’viv jazz club have organized the participation of twenty musicians from Ukraine in the Chodziez Workshop.

Participants:
Groups or individual participants – students of music schools, collages, academies. Each student should have his/her own instrument and should be able to read musical notes.
General Program:
Instrumental and vocal classes, groups: combo, big band, private lessons, theory and jazz history: lectures, audio-visual shows, daily jam sessions and concerts.

International Jazz Workshop in Chodziez started its history in 1971. In the space of two weeks musicians have the opportunity to acquire new knowledge from professional teachers of jazz, to get the experience of collaboration in jazz bands, to listen to interesting lectures on the history & theory of jazz music, to participate in jam sessions /every one evening/, to express themselves on a stage in the final concerts, to set up an acquaintance with young musicians from other countries & /possibly, why not/ to organize some new international jazz projects. And in addition to admire the beautiful Chodziez atmosphere of forests and lakes.
All teachers are professional jazz musicians. For example, Jan Yarchyk – Workshop Art Director . His time he was a piano teacher in Berkeley and now he is a Dean of the jazz department at McGill University in Montreal /Canada/. Susan Weinert /guitar/ & Martin Weinert /bass/ - the couple from Germany performing concerts all around the world. Marek Balata - one of the most famous Polish jazz vocalists.. And we can go on.& mention the entire pedagogical stuff.
